    Profile:
I completed 23 years as an engineer in the Royal Navy during which time I saw service on ships deployed to conflicts around the world. I also ran for the Devonport Field Gun crew on six occasions and was honoured to be the crew Captain for the final Devonport crew in 1999, who broke the world record that was held by Portsmouth since 1984. After leaving, the Navy I joined City College Plymouth as a Lecturer and specialised in Teacher Training delivery as well as Engineering. I managed the Marine Engineering Academy for several years and I am presently Colleges Director of Student Services. I am also a Chartered Teacher, Member of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and a Fellow of the Society for Education & Training. I also work as a national mentor for teachers undertaking the Chartered Programme.

I am a keen cyclist and take part in endurance cycling events raising money for charities. I also love the industrial heritage and history that surrounds the UK canal network and I have my own narrowboat that I spend as much time as possible on cruising the canal networks of the country.

I became a governor at Widewell through my work as a trustee with the Future Fit Junior Field Gun Charity and the work we do with schools to develop and promote teamwork and resilience in children, through the sport of field gun. I have been so impressed with the friendly and caring nature of Widewell staff and students since being a governor and feel privileged to be part of the school. With a background in engineering I am the Governor lead for Maths and will work hard to support where I can, the development in maths across the school. Please say hello if you see me around.
