    Profile:
After relocating to Plymouth from Gosport in 2013, Widewell Primary accepted for our eldest daughter to attend at relatively short notice; I was immediately impressed with how accommodating the school was. Not only was the school welcoming, particularly for us as a service family, but small, current and in touch with the vibrancy of the Northern Plymouth community. 6 years later, our eldest has completed primary and moved on and our two youngest daughters are currently attending Foundation and KS1.
I wanted to become a parent governor to assist in the facilitation of further successes for not only Widewell Primary but for the area as a whole. I believe the school is the hub of the community, bringing together the children and the parents together in the playground (albeit for 15 minutes on collection). The governors have an important role to play in setting the standards and ethos of the school and ultimately the future generations of Plymouth. As a parent governor, this is what I wish to be a part of. I am currently serving as a Captain in the Royal Marines at Bickleigh Barracks and understand how decisions of the ‘organisation’ effect the wider community. I look forward to engaging with the diversity of the board during my time as governor.
